Owner of the project: A UK based company specialized in manufacturing Diagnostic and Magnification Products for professionals in the Optical and Healthcare Industries.

Key persons: Project Manager, Regulatory Manager, Strategic Partnerships Manager, R&D Manager

Type of documents: Brochures & IFU’s

Tools and software: PDF, InDesign

Volume: 450 000 words

Delivery time: not urgent

Intended audience: End Users and Doctors

Critical issues:

  • top quality translation, review
  • accuracy and consistency
  • Certification of accuracy as per ISO 17100:2015 Standards
  • variety of tools
  • multilingual DTP

Solution:

We set up dedicated teams of linguists, one translator and one revisor per language.

We were waiting for the first batch to be completed in order to extract the glossary and prepare the memories correctly. This helped the team to adapt better the clients’ glossary.

We were receiving the files in bathes of 5-6 documents, each time one translation was completed it was sent by the dedicated P.M to our in-house DTP department.

The role of Desktop publishing (DTP) was to adapt graphics and other visual documents for the localized versions of the layouts.

The trickiest part of this project was especially in languages that don’t use the Latin alphabet such us Russian, Bulgarian, Serbian (and related Cyrillic scripts), Greek, Thai, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc.

During the Desktop Publishing process, our team, that is consisted of native speakers of the target language extracted the source language text from existing electronic files and replaced it with the translated language text.

The file was delivered in InDesign as per Clients’ request and was in High Quality ready to be printed.
